Golden Hour

The end-of-holiday feeling is mitigated by the fact that Spring is gathering momentum here. I rose before dawn and had a wander round the moorland fringes. Lots of activity, despite a dull, misty start. A glimpse of a Brown Hare, lots of Lapwing, Curlew, Meadow Pipits around, a pair of Oystercatchers over, and amazing numbers of Snipe chipping and drumming, Geese and Winter Thrushes on the move. I thought I caught a glimpse of a Wheatear, but otherwise no sign of the long-distance migrants yet. Only a matter of time!
It was very boggy up there - it seems like there has been some poor weather while we've been away. These Highland Cattle don't seem to mind, which is probably what makes them so suitable for this terrain.
