Fast Food

During an election fast food is often what is required as candidates and campaigners rush from one place to another.

I wasn't rushing too much this morning, however because on Saturday at the Dunoon Pier re-opening I had met David Carson, pictured here, and as  I was due to be campaigning in Cowal today I had arranged to visit his fast food van, called "Wined & Dined" , which is stationed in the Sandbank Business Park.

This is, however,  fast food with a difference.  Here David  is finishing off four rolls with sausage - except the sausages are heritage pork and the  fresh red onion that goes with them has been cooked in white wine vinegar and smoked sugar.

A few minutes earlier he had been showing me the quail he intended to cook later, stuffed with  his home made haggis .  He had  also planned to make gnocchi and wild garlic  for lunch but the forager had not delivered to him so far.

David's food is amazing, as befits someone who competed on Master Chef and people come from miles around to buy from his van.   Worth a detour or even a longer trip just to sample it - and the prices are very acceptable too !
