Golden Jubilee

4th April 2016:

This is Bronagh in the centre with her dad Jim on the left and a special friend, Br Michael Newman, of the St John of God Order, who was celebrating his Golden jubilee, 50 years a professed brother.
It was a wonderful day where Bronagh drove her dad all the way from Cork to Dublin for the occasion, well at least she had Google Maps on the go !!.
Bronagh is also a very special friend of Wells for Zoe too, having her own special pump and well, named after herself.
How did she do it? Well she gave away the money she got from her family and friends, as presents, when celebrating her first communion, to pay for a well to help the poorest. What a girl?

There is a rumour going around that she will go and have a look at this well in a few years time and meet the villagers who are benefiting from the clean water. Of course they will welcome her as if she were the Queen of Ireland, or of Cork, better still.
This was Michael's day of course. Imagine 50 years of service to the most needy in our communities. He worked for many years in the Philippines, in the UK, Ireland, Northern Ireland and now in Malawi, where he makes Mary and myself most welcome in our home away from home.
An amazing man and part of a unique order. 
Wishing him another 50 years of good health.
