A Bug's Eye View

Another early Spring bloomer in my yard, muscari armeniacum, more commonly known as the grape hyacinth. These perennials, which are native to Eurasia, are found in various colors of blue...from very pale to a very dark blue (almost black in some instances). Additionally there is a pink muscari called "Pink Sunrise" and I understand that an albino variety also exists.
The flowers resemble bunches of grapes springing from the ground and the name muscari is derived from the Greek muschos (musk), which refers to its fragrance,
