SHORNCLIFFE PIER

Today we went to the beach to try out the new Shorncliffe Pier.  The original pier was built around 1882 and succumbed over the years to marine borers and termites. It was closed in 2012 and has been completely rebuilt to the old measurements but modern standards, and was re-opened just a week ago.  It holds a record, projecting 300m into Moreton Bay.  Fishermen missed it and now are happy to find they are catered for with a tap and a stainless steel bench for gutting and scaling their catch...if any!  You may see it on the left of the extra.
