Longman Quay

After having the new tyres fitted on the Land Rover we went down to Merkinch to eat our lunch. The tide was on the way out so plenty of waders of the sand banks and several mergansers fighting over fish.
I took this photo looking rom a new carpark area which has been created with the new flood defences that have been built on the banks of the River Ness. Carved plaques have also been placed in the walls.
'The Port of Inverness is one of Scotland's most sheltered deep water harbours, lying seven miles South West of Chanonry Point in the Firth of Inverness'
There are four main Quays and the one you can see here is Longman which is '340m in length dredged to 5.5m below chart datum'.
The ship is a multi purpose dry cargo ship called Randzel from Gibraltar built in 2006 and looks to be carrying parts of a wind turbine.
Otters, seals and dolphins are often seen in the mouth of the harbour.

The sun came out later in the day which was great to see and it looks like they have finished the seating area the Rosemarkie side o the Point.
