But, then again . . . . .

Bow Fiddle Rock.

Another miserable day and the forecast is unrelenting rain for the next week. During a short period when the weather had subsided to a drizzle, I pottered along the coast as far as Port Gordon to ensure that the seals were still hauled up on the beach for the entertainment of passers by. Near the coastal trail through Portknockie, a mile or so to the left of Cullen, lies the curious geological structure known officially as “Bow Fiddle Rock” though, from the other side, it looks more like an elephant. It is sufficiently difficult for small boys to access and climb that a number of species of gull successful nest on it.

A photograph taken from this approximate viewpoint was featured in a recent Lothians competition; the photographer having been blessed with sunnier conditions than I had to work with. It was also obvious that I needed to wait for a high tide to cover up to the ugly water mark  below which, the rocks are a disgusting yellow colour.

Many thanks to you all for your kind words on my Blip anniversary yesterday. I’ll try and respond to you individually tomorrow.

I’ve just posted Thursday’s “Minion,”
