My favourite visitor

Fasting since midnight but the night nurse had taken pity on me and given me another dinner at ten thirty last night.
So the long jittery wait for most of the day wasn't too bad and was immeasurably improved by this little one's beaming smile. He was so clearly so pleased to see me.
I took the image of that smile with me into the operating theatre and sailed through the anaesthetic, the thought of which had scared me so much after previous bad experiences.
