Vaguely Marvellous

Final Holiday Lunge

After an unpromising start with a trip to the 'Artisan and Farmers Market' (read: 4 food stalls and some woman selling cushions) in Malmsbury, we regrouped and took ourselves off for a pub lunch and a walk. After a proper good pub lunch (big portions,  lots of chips,  no ponciness), we discovered a brilliant place called Woodchester Mansion.  It was started in the 1850s,  and was going to be a gothic revivalist triumph,  but was never finished.  No one really knows why, but it seems like the owner ran out of money and then died, and the building has been left unfinished since 1873. It was fascinating to look round, especially with Marc who could spot all the builderly details.

We also walked around the park and through the woods a bit,  saw lots of lambs,  discovered Amelia has an abnormally low heart beat or is secretly an elite athlete, and brought home the smell of wild garlic on our boots. After a swift half in the pub, we are now home, ready to polish off the leftovers in the fridge before we leave tomorrow.

There are extras,  I took an awful lot of photos today!
