Capel y Ffin South

Walking up from Capel y Ffin half way around a 10 mile circuit starting from Llanthony priory.

We've walked up a monster hill, along Offa's Dyke, straddling the border between England and Wales and then down a steep path to Capel y Ffin.

We sat by the bridge for 10 minutes for a bit of lunch and then got going again. This photo shows the boys doing the getting going bit.

They were great today, 10 hard miles with no complaints. The simple life, eh?

I promised them a drink at Llanthony priory if we got going. We took a lot longer than I thought even though we were moving pretty quickly.

Had a cheerful and interesting chat about the Duke of Edinburgh's award with a lady out supervising. She was giving up a day's holiday which was very admirable. It survives on a lot of goodwill.

Now sitting next to the roundabout in St Paul's. I think the clutch has gone so I'm temporarily stranded. The boys have been picked up, I've renewed my recently lapsed breakdown membership (typical) and am now waiting for recovery.

Had nasty thoughts about this VW transporter but I shouldn't grumble. It's taken us around Europe several times and has never had a problem until now. It's just done 100,000 miles so perhaps is getting cantankerous in middle age.

It's also given me time to write more than my usual one sentence blip so apologies for that.

It's been a good Easter but my mind is slipping back into work mode which I guess it must. Still a weekend to enjoy and currently kicking it off people watching on this busy roundabout.
