Rievaulx Ruins

In an attempt to find a walk which would not be ankle deep in mud we drove across to Rievaulx Terrace.

There was quite a lot of cloud scudding about but I managed this aerial view of Rievaulx Abbey as the sun put in a fleeting appearance. I liked this view as it put it the abbey in the context of its valley setting.

It must have been a magnificent sight when in its prime.
