Berkeley Sunset

We have reached the point where we only return to Berkeley to go to the dentist. Everybody rolls their eyes and questions our sanity, but we do it because it is our last connection to Berkeley. It involves complicated arrangements and prior planning but it is the only way we ever get to see our old Berkeley friends...and that is still important to me.

Tonight we are staying with friends who have generously opened their home to us even though they are busy with family and other engagements. We can no longer afford to stay at the Claremont hotel since it has been bought and refurbished by the Fairmont hotel group, but we find ourselves in the "lobby bar" because the restaurant where we ate at the bar and knew the bartender is closed for renovation. Disappointing, but the beautiful view is always blip worthy.

Tomorrow the dentist...
