New word...
When we had a blip meet in Manchester a few weeks ago we went to the popular Teacup on Thomas Street for tea and cake. It's immensely popular and we were told there was a hours wait to get in. It was set up by Manchester DJ, Mr Scruff. When he's doing his DJ thing, he eschews alcohol and other interesting substances that might be on offer in clubs and likes nothing better than a pot of tea while working.
He's so into his tea that he opened the Thomas Street teashop where you can buy, to take away, his own blends of tea to enjoy at home. Earlier on the meet we'd been to Spinningfields where Mr Scruff has opened a Teacup Cakery in a well appointed shed among the glass and steel corporate towers. It looks a bit incongruous but is doing well I'm told.
Mr Scruff is going to open a third establishment in the Town Hall Extension, facing onto the new St Peter's Square. Surrounded by some of the best architecture in the city, I imagine it will be a popular spot especially in the warmer months when we can sit outside.
I think 'Cakery' is a new made up word.
