Heroine of spring
Hail the Hellebore
daunted by weather
a season behind,
the daffodils dismayed,
damaged, defeated,
dirty now dipped, their
trumpets in tatters lay
flattened and snapped.
forsythia forlorn,
foiled by temperatures
frigid, paraded weakly,
her annual show
now paltry patterns
edged only on hems,
her bright yellow skirts
all bundled in april’s wet
winter white snow.
in a world with a climate
seemed turned on it’s head
reigns old Mother nature
our tired grand dame,
her temper so twisted
and suddenly cruel
she throws icy tantrums
of freezing and shocking
her tender stunned buds.
forcefully frosty, her
wrath rules supreme,
silencing budding, bright
heralds of spring.
behold the brave hellebore
a heroine bold, blooming
in conditions so chillingly
cruel, emerging all valiant,
the old lenten rose,
rewarding with beauty
our color starved souls
blown round in a blustery
baffling, winter-like spring
For the Record,
This day came in with gray skies, blustery winds and rain in the forecast. It's warm, but the wind ruins what might feel like spring. No winter, now this, one can never trust April, especially this one!
All hands hoping and praying for T's sister C's surgery today.
Update, 3:45 PM. The surgery went well, the doctor was very happy with how it went. T is waiting for her come out of the recovery room.
