In The Heronry

A lunchtime visit and an opportunity to see a pair of herons roosting high above me.  Often during the day they fly off and can be seen standing in a nearby field, or on the banks of the local canal.  I presume she is incubating eggs and I have seen the chicks in previous years, looking like some throwback to a prehistoric time.
