Today the wings are ready for flight, probably to an over-wintering tree as this will be a fourth generation butterfly, designed to survive the winter to continue the life cycle.
 
She looked so crumpled in yesterday’s blip, but this morning she looked very regal and very elegant as she sat in the morning sunshine preparing for the next stage of her life.
 
It is always a poignant moment when they sit on my finger to be carried and placed on a flower bloom in the sun. They are light as a feather, dainty and so trusting. I have loved ‘raising’ and releasing these beautiful insects back to the wild and their natural environment.
 
It will possibly be tomorrow before I catch up with your journals. For now, I send you all a big thank you for the comments, stars and hearts for yesterday’s very new and very crumpled butterfly. It is exciting to see it sitting on page two of the popular pages.
