Life through the lens...

One eye open

I'm afraid that neither of these are very good shots.
Too far away for my camera really, but I wanted to record some of the birds we saw today.
A fine sunny and warm day spent visiting Rodley Nature Reserve.
We were disappointed that there are still many parts of the reserve which are out of bounds, and a few hides closed. All being repaired after the floods. It is a long job for a little reserve like this.
No frogs which we saw so many of last year. The pond area is all being redone after being washed away.  See last years Blip Frogs
However there were dozens of sand martins, which we hadn't seen before.  ( see top photo)
Thanks to other visitors , who told us where to look,we saw a male redstart ( too far away for a photo) and this Little Owl
( bottom photo) well hidden in this tree. Asleep with one eye open!
Finished with coffee and scones in the little snack cafe, and left a donation to help with the upkeep of the reserve.
Hope all the other people who were enjoying the reserve also left a donation.
