Japanese Maple

Yesterday I listened to a talk on Japanese gardens  (see my blip) and this evening the sun was shining on my Japanese maple under the pergola, reminding me of its origin.

Actually, this potted maple had a very humble beginning. It was bought from Woolworths quite a number of years ago, looking very much like a piece of stick with no sign of life.

Patience is often rewarded in the garden!
