Wound up in Wexford

Fly tulips

W has given the lawn a severe hair cut today, except for a small patch where these tulips have grown.

They are on the area we call the "oak terrace" - very posh, ain't it.  We created this around the oak tree, so we had level ground under the tree to put a table in the summer (what summer, I hear you ask).  We moved soil from other areas, presumably including some bulbs.  Once they have finished flowering, we'll move them to the side, where hopefully they will thrive, and look a little less dog eared next year.

They are a delicate yellow shade.  It was quite late, so getting dark by the time I got home this evening, so this photo doesn't show them off to their best.

After taking the photos, I wandered down to the pond, and discovered it is "heaving" with newts - well, I spotted at least 8 swimming near the bridge.  Too dark for a photo.
