Scale
Manchester is a city of towers, there are many roads where the sunlight no longer reaches the pavements. This is the Beetham tower at the bottom of Deansgate that has made a good stab at fucking up that street (& don't get me started on the noise it makes when the wind blows) but it's still a bit more open than a lot of the city. Now more large towers are planned at Great Northern and bootle street.
On the other hand, I really admire the way that Liverpool have allowed tall buildings, but only where appropriate. It remains a City that feels open and has amazing vistas. Lets hope it stays that way.
