Luck

And... "An eye, a finger and two legs."
Henri Cartier-Bresson

I can't really take credit for this particular decisive moment. Let me explain...

It had been a very dull, rainy day and the cloud had finally lifted late afternoon so I hopped on my bike to deliver something to J's dad's GP practice. This pub is opposite.

I've been sort of obsessed with the notion of one day, just pressing the shutter once and that would be "it" - the image of the day. And also, not checking on the computer that it was "OK". Well, this was that day.

I'd wandered over, thinking to take an "ironic" image of this beer sign. I sat on the outside bench, no-one around, I focused... Then, just as I was about to press the shutter, I sensed movement out of the corner of my eye. This guy popped out of the door, tapped ash off his fag. *Click*.

Then he was gone.
