Meanwhile, at the coast..

Excuse me……..

……but I was doing a bit of delving on the British Newspaper Archive this morning (it being wet and miserable outside) and I spotted this advert…..it gave me a bit of a flashback to the 70's when I was drawing maps for the Dept of the Environment (I can guarantee you won't have seen any of our mapping masterpieces…..given they had exciting, snappy titles like 'Proportion of Domiciles with Outdoor Toilets by Local Authority Area, data drawn from the 1971 census' or 'Possible Routes for the A69 Haltwhistle By-Pass' , they weren't what you could call mass-market crowd pleasers….more niche market gems;-)) Anyway, I sometimes had to take the photographic plates we made after we'd done the drawing work up to our printers in Gosforth for them to do the litho printing when deadlines were tight. But our printers didn't just print on paper, oh no, they also printed on tin for the Andrews Liver Salts 'canning factory' next door. Mind you, they didn't bother with the formalities of delivering the results via factory doors, they just sawed a hole in the wall………...
