Tortworth Chestnut

The legend is that this tree was planted in around 800AD, making it around 1200 years old. Written records say it existed in 1200AD, which means it is at least 800 years old.

It lies just outside the churchyard of St Leonard's Church in Tortworth. This is only a few miles from my house, but I never knew it existed until we went their in our hiking group.
