Scene of Crime
At 2.30 am, BST, thieves drove a fork-lift handler into the wall of Shepshed Post Office and took out the ATM.
They drove off in a silver pickup truck and a dark-coloured saloon car towards Hathern. BBC News says the ATM has been recovered from farmland in Hickling. That's in Norfolk!
I was too late to see the forklift in situ, but the damage to the building has been immense. I guess the immediate need was to make sure that no further structural damage was incurred and to board up the shop front.
Basil and I wandered down late morning to check it out.
Another new citizen ceremony at Glenfield in the early evening. Was delighted to see Hem from Gothla days gone by there. His wife has finally bitten the bullet and become a British citizen after 22 years.
