Close shave

Today, we returned from our short holiday only to find that there had been an attempted burglary of our house. There were shavings of wood on the porch floor which I noticed as I approached the front door and it soon became apparent that somebody had applied a jemmy and had attempted to lever the door open. Fortunately, the mortis lock stood firm and the burglar(s) then had then tried our bay window which they tried to prise open but again were unsuccessful.
I am extremely relieved that nothing was stolen and the burglars were denied entry.
