Guillemots

Drove north to the Bullers of Buchan this afternoon, hoping to see the puffins, since there have been some recent sightings. However, the cliffs were very quiet, and not a puffin was in sight.  There were herring gulls, kittiwakes, fulmars, razorbills, shags and guillemots, but not many of any of them.  Two of the guillemots in this photo are "bridled" - they look as if they are wearing white spectacles.  Apparently, between 2 and 8 % of guillemots in our area are bridled, but the percentage rises as you go north, and 50% are observed to be bridled in Iceland.
