Gateway to Nowhere
Today's MonoMonday Blip challenge is The Environment, set by our wonderful host for this month, davidc.
Today is our last day for this break on the Costa Blanca. Spain also has its environmental issues, one being the huge amount of development that was started in the overseas property boom of 10+ years ago, but much of it is either unfinished or still empty. A lot of people must have lost a lot of money!
I chose this blip as it shows a very old gate and fence surrounding land, once scheduled for development but now a waste area. All around there are large citrus orchards fruiting well. Most of these are surrounded by fences which even the most determined and boundary-disregarding photographer cannot overcome, but there is one patch with no fence - so always a joy to go 'scrumping' and pick up the occasional lemon, orange or lime!
There is also a vast number of derelict properties and barns - I really must get round to photographing more of these as they are quite beautiful and decay slowly in this area of no frosts.
So back to the cheerful weather of the UK tomorrow. It will be cold landing at Luton airport - it's cold there on a warm day!!
