Overdressed!

It was more like Summer than Spring today. We were seriously overdressed for our day out to a small country park in Rotherham. There were reports yesterday of a Whimbrel here, and even though I wasn't too hopeful it would still be around, I just had to give it a go!
We saw so many butterflies - Small Tortoiseshell, Peacock, Brimstone, Orange Tip...
Lots of small birds were singing in the tree. We saw an excellent variety, but being able to see this Great-crested Grebe and such close proximity was a real treat. Sadly, they weren't displaying today.
It's all happening; badgers are now making their nightly visits to the garden, Cuckoos are being reported nearby, as are Pied Flycatchers, Redstart, Martins, Swallows and more.
