An interesting lunch

Both for this goat and us. It was veshu, a keralan festival, so the the hotel was hosting a traditional meal. Banana leaves for plates, all finery and cutlery removed from the table and exotic food. All good, in principle. Then add in the fact that we were the only two people in the restaurant and we had 5 people waiting on us (3 serving, a manager and chef to oversee).

The whole experience was remarkably odd and mostly uncomfortable. They very eagerly watched to see how we coped with eating with our hands and whether we liked the food. I really struggled not to laugh throughout.

The evening meal on the rooftop was much less intimidating (and ridiculously romantic).

New food: moly fish (wonderful, as you'd expect from a fish with such a great name), traditional keralan rice pudding and unidentified brown dessert (not my cup of tea).
