A real "weeping willow"
Hello folks! Well the weather is a little brighter today, and so I decided to take a trek into the garden for my blip for today. As I mentioned yesterday, our willow is rather special, and I'm sure you will agree! You may not believe me when I say that it was for this willow tree that I personally decided to buy our house! For Anne, it was for the interior, but then she's a woman! I have to add though that the willow was upright when I first saw it, but unfortunately it suffered severely during the violent storms we experienced in December, 1999. We also lost 2 fir trees, which were really nice. When all our neighbours saw the condition of the willow tree, everybody said "it's well and truly dead, I'll get my chain saw, and we'll break it up". As you can imagine, I was horrified, and stepped in immediately to resist such a terrible idea. I am pleased that I did, for within 4 months, it started to show signs of life, with little green shoots growing here and there. I am pleased to say that from that moment on, it has continued to grow magnificently, and is once again the centre of attraction in our garden every summer. We even have bbq's under it's branches. The willow really is an amazing tree, it just doesn't stop growing, even after falling on it's side and being up-rooted. Well I hope you like this blip as much as I do, and if nothing else, it really shows how wonderful nature is! Thanks for taking the time to check out my entry for today, and I look forward to seeing you again tomorrow. In the meantime, have an enjoyable day.
