Hertford Bridge, Oxford
After a delayed start (got stuck in traffic on the dreaded M25 which added nearly an hour onto my journey) I met up with friend and blipper Beverley for a coffee before heading into Oxford.
Spent a lovely day catching up and admiring the fabulous architecture of Oxford. This shot is of Hertford Bridge, or more commonly known by locals as the Bridge of Sighs because of the similarity to the famous bridge of the same name in Venice. Although it actually looks more like the Rialto Bridge!
The bridge was designed by Sir Thomas Jackson and completed in 1914. It connects the two sections of Hertford College. The bridge is only open to Hertford members.
Early evening we drove over to Minster Lovell Hall, a 15th century Oxfordshire manor house. Built in the 1430s by William, Baron of Lovell and Holand, it was later demolished in the 18th century and the remains still stand today. It was getting dark by the time we reached here, so some long exposures were called for (extra added).
We ended the day in a very nice country pub for dinner.
