Dead Tulip

My wife was somewhat surprised when I asked her not to throw out a vase of dying tulips as I thought one or two of them might make a good subject for a still life. 

For once in my life I chose not to tightly control things by using a tripod and shot this hand held with my bridge camera. Ian quite pleased that the dof worked out so well with all of the petals in focus but the stalk beginning to blur. 

I just love the range of textures and curled up petals that the dying tulips offer and the warm tones of these particular tulips are very much to my liking as well.
