Words fail

Although we realised that La Vegas was a good starting off point for our American tour, neither of us had any real desire to go there. However, we were persuaded, especially by our daughter, that it was somewhere that just had to be experienced. So we would spend two nights here and have a day to experience it.

And experience it we have done today. Hotels that are whole neighbourhoods, each one trying to outdo the other in extraordinary creations, everything dazzling and well over the top. Impossible to describe – words cannot do it. It has to be experienced.
 
Is this Venice? No – Grand Canal Shoppes in the Venetian. Yes, I said ‘in’ – the sky is artificial; this is afternoon in Las Vegas, not an evening in Venice. Crazy!
 
One cannot ponder too long on the rightness or wrongness of such an opulent display of wealth, indulgence, extravagance; one can only exclaim and move on . . . quickly! 

An amazing day though. Tomorrow we get our car and head out.
