Out on a 'jolly'!

Before our National Trust membership expires at the end of the month we decided to get out and about!
This is Baddesley Clinton, a small but beautifully formed, Tudor manor house that was built around 1517 by the Ferrers family who owned it until the middle of the last century when it was passed to the National Trust.
Who knew one could become a 'master craftsman of secret hiding places'? Nicolas Owen was one such master and he built several priest hiding places in Baddesley Clinton for priest friends of the Catholic family-one accessed through a toilet!  During the current rewiring work another one was discovered, Nicholas obviously was a master of his craft if it had been secret for 500 years!
