Titanium
Maybe it was because I was in a big rush to the dentist at 8.40, and the last mouthful of alphabet cereal was still being munched at 5 past, and maybe I wasn't as eagle-eyed as I should have , but I was the victim of a van-door-opening for the first time in ages. The back wheel went up a bit, but I managed to get the feet on the ground, and the bike off to the side. The man appeared to be angry at me, but I just swore at him and continued on my way to my floss scolding session.
I didn't notice this until I was at the dentist.
I had been thinking about this saddle for a while, and whether it was nearly that time. I bought it in Germany in 1993, and it's on its third bike, so I've probably got what I was going to get.
I could still get one exactly the same for about £70. However, I have an unused cheaper one in the shed, and anyway I'm not sure it was ever as much more comfortable than it looks as I convinced myself it was. If you see what I mean.
Also, I think you'd have to have a light bike to need to have a titanium saddle. My mountain bike isn't. It did make me think about options to tidy it up and turn it into a town bike nstead of getting a new one.
