Amanita mascara - Fly Agaric
The path down the side of the house is a bit of a mushroom alley - being on the shady south side of the house, covered by a bush canopy, the mushrooms have a perfect environment. Fly agaric (Amanita mascara) seem to be the dominant species but I'm sure I'll find more.
We had the pest eradicator around today to give us an assessment of our rat problem. That's the only thing with living surrounded by bush, we have rats in the roof cavity and others keen to get into the walls. While he was with us, a baby rat made an appearance in the studio. Polly the cat was just looking at it, barely even signalling that she could be bothered to explore the possibility of chasing it. Obviously she doesn't like an audience. Craig the rodent man didn't waste any time dispatching the thing though. Come on Polly pull your weight!
