You're bard!

In the interest of a good blip and to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the death our greatest playwrite, William Shakespeare, KryptoMart and I decided to suss out the only statue of WillIan Shakespeare in Scotland which is in the grounds of Bonaly Tower, Edinburgh. With the help of a very nice dog walker in Colinton (sat nav was useless and took us to a suburban house in Colinton), we located the tower, only to realise it was a private estate. Anyway, being true blippers we were not put off and went up the driveway where a very helpful gardener pointed out where the statue was. Having got a blip, we beat a hasty retreat, only to be caught by the owner, who said we were trespassing ... you're bard!

Anyway, a bit more about the statue:

This is a Coade stone statue of William Shakespeare which advocate and writer Lord Henry Cockburn installed in the garden at Bonaly Tower, Edinburgh. It is in a curved recess in the boundary wall at west end of garden. It came from the Theatre Royal at Shakespeare Square at the east end of Princes Street after it was demolished in 1860. It was originally acquired by John Jackson in the 1780s, along with accompanying figures of tragedy and comedy, for the theatre which had its last performance on May 25th. 1859.

So, here's a tankard of beer to you Will literally enhancing all our lives.

Happy St. George's Day too.

Have a good Saturday all.
