A Face in the Crowd

Against my better judgement we went into Stratford this morning to mingle with the million other people there to watch the parade celebrating Shakespeare's death/birthday, although as there was no cake and there was a New Orleans jazz band I guess it was more of a funeral march.

We didn't see much of course, just the back of people's heads and the top of the dignitaries heads though I did spot this face in the crowd, he'd obviously put a wig on to help disguise himself.

An hour later the parade having passed and the crowd beginning to disburse we made our way to Waterside to see what was happening. Radio Three had a pop-up studio in The Other Place but as with everywhere else the queue for coffee was very long. We decided to go to the Hospice Shop where I volunteer as they very rarely get anyone in their cafe, and we managed to get a table and a decent cup of coffee amongst the books. On the way there we saw Charles and Camilla, at least I assume it was them; a convoy of police cars with darkened windows driving the wrong way down a one way street with blue lights flashing, the driver of the second car wearing what looked like full body armour.

Home for lunch, tennis and a relax before we go in again tomorrow.

Quote for today:
