It is Friday!

Last night was very special at Burgundy's Wine Bar in Kendal for many resons. This is Kirsty Almeida, the awesome jazz vocalist from Manchester with Steve Childs, a brilliant sax player and flautist. I was really looking forward to sketching Kirsty but I get mesmerised by her voice and the way she moves to the rhythm of the music and that is the challenge. Steve the saxaphonist was much easier - so much character in that face and he was much more still!

With them were John Ellis on keyboards, Mo Witham on guitar and Ted Richards on drums - a powerful combination and a great sound.

The other special event was that Willboughy dropped in. She had said she would but how do you know for sure when you have not met before. And then I get so focussed on sketching but then I caught sight of her sitting in the lovely old leather seat - our eyes met and we both knew! And as a bonus she won a bottle of wine in the raffle. After she left a number of the regulars had spotted this new face - who was she? how did I know her? And if you start explaining blipfoto you know you should not have! A great night and I hope she will drop in again.
