Conundrums

The picture itself - is it a cat? Is it a rabbit?

It being outside a flat on the corridor - is someone so proud of it they want everyone visiting to see or is someone hoping the picture will quietly disappear with one of the visitors?

And finally, why is it that a corridor of an old school building converted into flats long time ago, still smells like a school corridor?
