Colosseum
I had camera problems a couple of days ago when I was in the Colosseum and had to use my phone for the rest of my trip. So, I have just been able to view these pictures today and thought that might count as today's blip.
This is the Flavian Amphitheatre commonly known as the Colosseum because it was sited near a colossal statue of the Emperor Nero. It was built by the Emperors Vespasian and his son Titus around AD 70/80.
In the extra you can see more clearly the underground areas which were covered over with a wooden floor, where the prisoners and animals were kept, before being brought up to the arena by hoist.
Thanks to everyone who followed my Roman Holiday and sent comments stars and hearts. All were appreciated.
