Three in a life time - traditional bonnets

These bonnets were worn by the women in the River Schwalm area on their head knots. The red one was for young girls before they were married. The green one was worn for young married women. Later they had to turn to black for their dresses. These belonged to my great-grand aunt, who was born in 1920 and kept to her traditional clothing as long as she lived.
