ANZAC DAY.

At Durrington Cemetry, Wiltshire.  204 ANZAC `s buried  there from WW1. Chose one at random. Walter James Lansdown. Pte 2411. 4th Australian Pioneer Corps.Died of sickness at nearby Larkhill Camp on 5/3/1917. Aged 45 years. He was the son of William and Sarah Lansdown of Bath ,Somerset. Married Emma Georgina, living at Bank Terrace,Paddington,Brisbane,Queensland. 
He went all the way to Australia to start a new life, got married there and joined up as a volunteer to fight for the `motherland`.  On the bottom of his gravestone it reads "Tho Lost To Sight, To Memory Dear".
The school children of Durrington laid flags and personal thoughts on crosses for each grave. The governments of NZ and Australia laid wreaths at the Cross of Sacrifice.
