Ramblings and Mutterings

Adventure day!

We set off just off the Snake Pass road and made our way to the Alport Castles, one of the largest landslips in the UK which happened millions of years ago.  One of the outstanding features from this landslip is the Tower, it really is quite impressive.  At the top we came across a bird hide, which apparently has a good view on some nesting peregrine falcons on the cliffs of the landslip.  We didn’t see any, although we did see red grouse, lapwings and Canadian Geese.

From there we made our way to a trig point and stopped for lunch, before making our way then to our ultimate destination of Bleaklow, the second highest peak in the Peak District.  It was now getting towards 5pm, and we’d been walking since 10:30am, so we then headed towards our overnight camp site.  I’m not allowed to tell you where, it’s a backpackers secret ;)

This is the moon rise at our camp site.

BACK BLIPS:

Saturday - Offa and his Dyke

Sunday - Farewell

Monday - Packed
