Red Hollyhock

This very large hollyhock blossom (7 inches/18 cm across) is one of several close by on Union Street. They have bloomed since we left for Maine at the beginning of the week.

I neglected to mention that my presentation of bird images in Maine on Wednesday was well attended and seemed much appreciated. It was to Downeast Audubon, a chapter of Maine Audubon based in Blue Hill--it's clearly a very lively organization!

I was in Maine last July, and just a year ago I blipped a loon taking off--it's been very popular.
