Tie Died Cake

Grandma found another recipe we just had to try. We started by mixing the ingredients for a white cake, then divided the batter into 6 different bowls, adding a different color food gel to each bowl. We also added a flavor to each color, almond in the blue, lemon in the yellow, cherry in the red, etc. The batter was poured into the pan in layers and baked as usual, making a rainbow/tie died cake.

I took it into my old office to share with friends there, one of whom shares my birthday yesterday. The colors were very vibrant and everyone enjoyed eating the "Hippie Cake."
