Blowing Things Up

This was the last (half) day of Grandparents U class. Yesterday we learned about earthquakes -- today's subject was volcanoes. The kids had a lot of fun creating simulations of volcanic eruptions, using the Diet Coke and Mentos trick. There are more photos of the eruptions in my Flickr Photostream.

The instructor created a much more spectacular explosion using liquid nitrogen. (Don't try this at home, kids).

At the concluding ceremony, the children from each class made a presentation based on what they'd learned. I was very impressed by their knowledge and enthusiasm.

We're already discussing what classes to take next year.
