Over We Go
Today dawned sunny, perfect for getting on the new polytunnel plastic! All the friends who are part of our monthly work day came along. I have had a plan to use part of the polytunnel as a shelter for the donkeys, a bit of an experiment but their shelter was dismantled this year, the posts in the ground were rotten. Lots of the materials have been salvaged to be used in a new shelter at a later date. So we extended this tunnel a little and built a gate and bars inside to separate the animals from the growing area.
It's all hands needed to drag the plastic over the hoops and then the most critical bit of the operation is to stretch it out and fill in the surrounding trenches to hold it in place avoiding any plastic sagging! We did a pretty good job but it all takes time so we couldn't quite finish the task. so I think I'll be shoveling a lot of earth in the next few day to completely fill up those trenches.
