Any ideas?

Found this wee fella in the patio slightly the worse for waer - feathers rumpled, looking like he was breathing very heavily and rapidly and all puffed up.
Sitting for long periods of time and making no effort to fly - hopping to get a wee drink and some seeeds.

This went on for about four hours, then he just took off.

Don't know what was going on - don't know if he flew into the patio doors, had a close shave with a cat or simply lost his way....
