A beautiful view?

Our guest house in Lincoln promised a beautiful view - well it would have been if we'd been at the rear of the house which was adjacent to The Arboretum, but our second floor window looked out towards the street over this rather splendid derelict house. 12 Lindum Terrace is a very imposing Victorian Gothic mansion that was once home to some of Lincoln's most troubled minds. It was bought three years ago with the intention of utilising it as part of the nearby Lincoln Minster School. But so far nothing's happened...

The rest of the day was spent at Skellingthorpe Old Wood, which is one of the most beautiful and species-rich woodlands I've ever visited. We found two very thriving populations of Herb-paris, as well as locally abundant Moschatel, Wood-sorrel and Early Purple-orchid, and enjoyed the visual spectacle of sweeps of Bluebell and Wood Anemone (see extra). The weather was no warmer, but it stayed dry and everyone said they'd had a really good time - so once I've recovered I may even think about hosting another field meeting in 2017!
